If your printer shows "cutter failure" on the display at power on, you may try the steps below to solve this issue.
On the ID tag of the printer at separatrion it may show "cut" or "tear". If your tag shows "cut", your printer has a cutter installed. If it shows "tear", then the printer is setup for manual tear-off (no cutter).
If it does not have a cutter
Go into the menu and set “MINI/MICRO?” to “MICRO”, see Change Mini/Micro setting (cutter control).
If it does have a cutter
- Check for blockage in the cutter area.
- Clean the cutter blade, see Cleaning the cutter knife on a Lemur
- Check if the top of the moving cutter knife is jammed underneath the fixed blade.
- If it may be jammed, press the backside blade towards the exit of the printer. See Unjamming the BC cutter knife
- Check cutter type is set correctly. On all Lemur models “Cutter type” is “BOCA”. See Change cutter type
- Try to reset the printer to factory default settings, see Reset to factory default settings . Be aware that all other custom settings will be lost.
