The opto detectors are used to detect paper and position the ticket. The list below helps you to identify the type of opto detector is used in your BOCA printer.

Ghostwriter series printers

Tear/Cut opto

In last Ghostwriter series two opto types (422264-STR & 422264-ANG) were used. Electrically both optos are the same the only difference is the connector mounted on the board. The type of opto needed depends on the model and paper guide installed in the printer. Always replace the opto with the same type as already installed.

422264-STR (straight connector)

422264-ANG (angled connector)

Load opto

The load was controlled by a load switch.

Lemur series printers

Tear/Cut opto

In the first Lemur printers the S423764 opto was installed.

S423764

From June 2013 the new opto (SSQOPTO) is gradually phased in starting with the RADJW paper guides.

The SQ optos for black mark detection have a blue line across the IC.

SSQOPTO-CUT

BM opto without bracket to mount in cutter (BC1-BC5)

The Lemur UPG printer has the (SSQOPTO-U) opto installed in the paper guide rail for registering the black mark. The opto has a new JST connector and new frame.

SSQOPTO-U

SSQOPTO-CUT-U

BM opto without blue to mount in cutter (BC1-BC5)

From April 29th 2020 the opto (SSQOPTO-JST) with the new JST connector is also phased in for the new non-UPG paper guides. Basically, using the new connector is the old frame.

SSQOPTO-JST

Load opto

In the first Lemur printers a load switch was installed.

From August 2014 the new load opto (SSQLOAD, alternative part number: SQ OPTO-L) is gradually phased in starting with the RADJW paper guides. Older printer models use a mechanical switch.

The SQ optos for ticket load detection have a gold dot on the IC.

SSQLOAD

The Lemur UPG printer has the SQLOAD-U (alternative part number: SQ OPTO-L-U) opto installed in the paper guide rail for ticket load. The opto has a new JST connector and new frame.

SSQLOAD-U

From April 29th 2020 the opto (SSQLOAD-JST, alternative part number: SQ OPTO-L-JST) with the new JST connector is also phased in for the new non-UPG paper guides. Basically, using the new connector is the old frame.

SSQLOAD-JST

Cutter knife position opto

In the BC4 cutter an opto (SSQOPTO-C) was introduced to position the cutter knife. All previous cutters had switches to detect the position. The same opto is used in the cutter for a Lemur-X.

The SQ optos for cutter knife position detection have a silver dot on the IC.

SSQOPTO-C

Since the introduction of the Lemur UPG printer the connector on the cutter has changed to a JST type. This opto has now part number SSQOPTO-C-U

SSQOPTO-C-U

The Lemur-X model uses a slightly different style opto to detect the cutter knife position This has a JST type connector and the frame with the mounting hole. This opto has part number SSQOPTO-C-UX

SSQOPTO-C-UX

GAP opto

In the BC5 cutters an opto could be installed to detect gaps. This opto has part number SSQOPTO-GAP

Note: This opto is supplied without the (red/blue) connecting cable S424131

SSQOPTO-GAP

Lemur-M HOF opto

On Lemur-M a head of form (HOF) opto (S423810) is used to detect the leading edge of the ticket

S423810

Lemur-M printers built (23-05-2016) will be getting HOF opto that have SQ-gap optos (S423810-SQ). Printer s/n 365042 and higher.

Note: This opto is supplied without the (red/blue) connecting cable S424131
