A BOCA printer can be equipped with a ticket taken sensor (exit opto) that indicates if the ticket was taken from the printer. The printer signals back to the host computer when a ticket is taken from the printer.
Operation
Normal Operation:
- After each ticket is printed the printer will return an ACK (0x6) and wait for the ticket to be removed. No tickets can be printed until the current ticket is removed.
- Once the ticket is removed the printer will return a READY (0x11) or RIBBON LOW (0x16) status indicating the previous ticket was removed and the printer is ready for the next ticket.
Last Ticket Operation:
- After the last ticket is printed the printer will return an ACK and wait for the ticket to be removed.
- Once the last ticket is removed the printer will return a READY (0x11) or RIBBON LOW (0x16) status immediately followed by an OUT OF TICKET status and a BUSY status (0x13).
Note: The exit opto option should NOT be enabled on a printer without the exit opto hardware installed.
Configuration
Configure the printer as follows:
- Select "SINGLE" option from printer’s “TICKET MODE” menu selection.
- Select “PATH1 EXIT OPTO” option from printer’s “PATH TYPE” menu selection.
Exit opto Status command
A new command to select the status byte sent back when the exit opto is clear has been added to this firmware (FGL46N103). It is called the Exit Opto status command.
<eo#> - # is the decimal value of status sent back by the printer when the exit opto is clear of ticket. (Ticket taken)
<eo0> | will disable the sending of any status byte when the ticket is takenwill return value 17 (11h) “X-ON” |
<eo17> | will return value 17 (11h) “X-ON” when the ticket is taken |
<eo22> | will return value 22 (16h). “RIBBON LOW / TICKET TAKEN” when the ticket is taken (default). |
For customers that want the old status value of 17 (11h) you will need to update their firmware and then send a <eo17> to the printer once.
